NRA UK - National Rifle Association
The governing body for full bore target rifle shooting in the United Kingdom
Full Bore Shooting Not Offered at Pinhoe TSC
Pinhoe TSC specialises in smallbore (.22LR) and air weapon shooting. However, many of our members participate in full bore shooting at Bisley Camp and other NRA-affiliated ranges. We’re proud to support members who pursue full bore disciplines alongside their club shooting.

Getting Started in Full Bore Shooting
Full bore shooting requires a Section 1 Firearm Certificate (FAC) issued by your local police force. The pathway typically involves:
1. Probationary Membership
Join an NRA-affiliated club as a probationary member. Complete supervised shooting sessions and firearms safety training. This provides the club endorsement needed for your FAC application.
2. Firearm Certificate Application
Apply to your local police firearms licensing department for a Section 1 FAC. You’ll need a secure gun cabinet, club membership, good reason (target shooting), and character references. Processing typically takes 3-6 months.
3. Equipment & Training
Once you have your FAC, acquire a suitable rifle and ammunition. Many clubs have rifles available for loan initially. Attend coaching sessions to develop proper technique and range safety procedures.
4. Competition Shooting
Progress through club competitions to regional and national events. The NRA classification system (Marksman, 1st Class, Prize Winner, etc.) tracks your competitive development.
