Your Introduction to Target Shooting

Never tried shooting before? Our “Give it a Go” programme is the perfect way to start. For just £50, you get four weeks of structured sessions with qualified NSRA instructors, all equipment provided, and the chance to try different shooting disciplines in a safe, supportive environment.

How It Works

The course starts on the third Wednesday of each month and runs for four consecutive weeks. Each session is held on Wednesday evenings from 7pm-9pm during our Novice Evening.

Week 1: Introduction & Safety

Wednesday Evening, 7pm-9pm (Novice Evening)

Your first session focuses on safety and getting comfortable with the ranges. You’ll receive:

  • Complete facility tour of all 6 ranges
  • Comprehensive safety briefing
  • Introduction to range commands
  • Overview of different shooting disciplines
  • Basic firearm handling instruction
  • Complete application form and Section 21 Declaration

Police Check Required

Before your shooting sessions begin, you’ll need to pass a police check through Devon & Cornwall Constabulary. We’ll arrange this for you after your first session.

Weeks 2-4: Hands-On Training

Continuing Wednesday Evenings, 7pm-9pm

The remaining three weeks focus on developing your skills:

  • Try different shooting disciplines (air pistol, rifle shooting, etc.)
  • Learn proper shooting technique and stance
  • Develop breath control and trigger skills
  • Practice on our electronic targets with instant feedback
  • Receive individual coaching and guidance
  • See your scores improve session by session!

After Give it a Go

After completing the four-week programme, you’ll have a good understanding of target shooting and can decide:

  • Continue as a Member: Join the club and continue shooting
  • Try More Sessions: Book additional coaching before committing to membership
  • Think It Over: No pressure - take your time deciding

Schedule

Who Can Join?

Age Requirements

Participants must be 12 years or older. Those under 18 require parental/guardian consent and supervision.

No Experience Needed

Absolutely no prior shooting experience required. The programme is designed for complete beginners.

Fitness Level

Most shooting positions are accessible. Please let us know if you have any physical limitations so we can accommodate you.

All Welcome

We welcome people of all backgrounds. Shooting is an inclusive sport with opportunities for everyone.

What if I miss a session?

Life happens! If you need to miss a session, contact us and we’ll arrange for you to make it up in the next cycle. We want everyone to complete all four weeks.

Do I need to bring anything?

Just yourself! We provide all equipment. Wear comfortable clothing and closed-toe shoes. Eye protection is provided but you’re welcome to bring your own glasses or contacts.

Is it safe?

Absolutely. Safety is our top priority. You’ll be under direct supervision by qualified instructors at all times, and we have an excellent safety record. All activities follow strict NSRA guidelines.

What happens after the four weeks?

There’s no obligation! You can join as a member, book additional sessions, or simply enjoy the experience. We’re here to support whatever you decide.
