About the Rose Bowl
The Pinhoe Rose Bowl is our annual benchrest rifle competition, representing one of the most prestigious events in the club calendar. This members-only competition tests accuracy and consistency in the benchrest discipline, where shooters pursue the ultimate goal of placing every shot through the same hole.
Competition Format
Benchrest Rifle
Shoot from a supported benchrest position using either .22LR or air rifles. The focus is on extreme accuracy, with scoring based on group size and target scores.
- Range: Pinnbrook Right (Benchrest Range)
- Distance: 25 yards/metres
- Equipment: .22LR or air rifles with telescope sights
- Position: Benchrest with front rest and rear bag
Scoring
Competition scoring combines both group size (measured in millimetres or inches) and target score. The smallest, tightest groups win.
- Format: Multiple targets over the competition period
- Measurement: Manual scoring with precise group measurement
- Winner: Best aggregate score across all targets
The Rose Bowl Trophy
The Rose Bowl is awarded annually to the club member who demonstrates the highest level of benchrest shooting skill throughout the competition. Winners have their name engraved on the trophy, joining a prestigious list of the club’s finest benchrest shooters.
Trophy History
The Rose Bowl has been contested for many years, representing excellence in benchrest shooting at Pinhoe TSC. Past winners have demonstrated exceptional consistency and accuracy, with some groups measuring under 10mm at 25 yards.
