About The Big Shoot
The Big Shoot is our flagship annual event - a full day of multi-discipline shooting competition combined with social activities, great food, and fantastic prizes. It’s the perfect blend of serious competition and fun, attracting shooters from across the region for what many consider the highlight of the shooting calendar.
What Makes It Special?
Multiple Disciplines
Shoot up to 6 different disciplines throughout the day. Try disciplines you don’t normally shoot, or stick to your favorites. Your choice!
All Ranges Active
Experience all 6 of our ranges in one day. This is the only event where every range is running competitions simultaneously.
Lunch Included
Mid-day lunch included with entry fee. A chance to relax, socialize, and compare scores!

Air Pistol Championship
40 shotsStanding air pistol at 10 metres. Electronic scoring provides instant feedback.
Format: 40 shots for record

Sport Rifle Challenge
20 shotsStanding rifle with scopes at 20 metres. Air or .22 LR.

15 shotsTraditional .22 prone rifle shooting at 25 yards with iron sights.

How Many Competitions Can I Enter?
As many as you like! Your £25 entry includes unlimited competitions. Most shooters enter 3-4 disciplines. Shoot what you enjoy and don’t worry about fitting everything in - the day is long and schedules are flexible.
Schedule
- 8:00 AMRegistration opens. Collect your event card and plan your day.
- 8:30 AMAll competitions begin. Shoot in any order you choose.
- 10:30 AMCoffee break. Tea, coffee, and pastries available.
- 11:00 AMCompetitions continue.
- 12:30 PMBBQ Lunch! Burgers, sausages, veggie options, salads, drinks. Time to socialize!
- 2:00 PMAfternoon competitions resume.
- 3:30 PMAfternoon refreshments available.
- 5:00 PMFinal competitions close. Last scorecards submitted.
- 5:30 PMPrize presentation begins - the moment everyone’s waiting for!
- 6:00 PMEvent concludes. See you next year!
Flexible Shooting
Unlike most competitions, The Big Shoot is completely flexible. Shoot disciplines in any order, take breaks when you want, chat with other shooters, watch others compete, or just enjoy the atmosphere. The only fixed time is the BBQ lunch!

Perfect for Beginners
The Big Shoot is one of the most beginner-friendly competitions we run. The relaxed atmosphere, flexible schedule, and fun ethos make it perfect for first-time competitors. Many of our regular competitors got their start at this event!

Day Entry
Limited day entries available:

Day entries may not get BBQ lunch if we reach catering capacity. Book ahead!
Book Early for BBQ Guarantee
To guarantee your BBQ lunch, pre-book by July 15th. While we accommodate day entries where possible, the BBQ has a maximum capacity and we can’t always cater for late bookings.
What to Bring
- Your Firearms: Bring pistols/rifles for disciplines you want to shoot
- Ammunition: Enough for all competitions (pellets available for purchase)
- Shooting Gear: Eye protection, shooting jacket/glove if you use them
- Entry Fee: £25 if not pre-paid
- Sunscreen: Part of the day is outdoors - protect yourself!
- Camera: Capture memories of a great day
- Positive Attitude: Come ready to have fun and make new friends!

Don’t have equipment for all disciplines? We have some club firearms available on the day for trying different disciplines. Just ask at registration what’s available.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I have to enter all competitions?
No! Enter as many or as few as you like. Most people do 3-4 disciplines. Your entry fee covers unlimited competitions, so pick what interests you.
Do I need to bring my own equipment for every discipline?
No - bring what you have. We have some club equipment available for trying different disciplines. Ask at registration what’s available on the day.
Can I bring my family to watch?
Absolutely! Spectator tickets are £10 and include BBQ lunch. Kids under 12 are free (but please book them in so we know for catering).
What if I’ve never competed before?
The Big Shoot is perfect for first-time competitors! The relaxed atmosphere and flexible format mean there’s no pressure. Instructors are available to help throughout the day.
Is there parking available?
Yes, free parking on-site. Given the large number of attendees, we recommend carpooling if possible, but we’ve never run out of parking space!
